Later this month, we are launching our Birmingham Female Filmmakers initiative alongside a group of young female filmmakers (aged 16 - 25).  Its purpose is to share stories that reflect the genuine experience of being a young woman in Birmingham.

As part of the project, we are looking to collaborate with young women (15 - 24 years old) to help shape the narrative of the films through workshops and focus groups alongside our BYFN Filmmaking mentors.  Weekly workshops will begin on Saturday 18th January at Digbeth Loc Studios (the recently opened film studios launched by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders).

Young women who might be interested in the project don't have to have any filmmaking experience or interest, all they need is a viewpoint, a voice and to be interested in telling their story.

We welcome all perspectives, and provide free refreshments and support travelling costs to and from the workshops - making BFF as accessible as possible.

All we ask is for anybody who is interested to be:

- Open to being engaged and contributing to the group

- Able to commit to six weeks of fun, engaging workshops on Saturdays

Participants will also have the option to assist in making the films that they help shape, under the guidance of their mentors in the filmmaking team.

The project will culminate in a screening of their films and a celebration of their achievements at a premiere event at the Mockingbird Cinema in Birmingham.

We will be recruiting across several schools and youth groups, so if you know of any young females who would benefit from this project, please contact us as soon as possible.  Where needed, I will then send out a parental consent form for any under 18s.
